Crash & Tell! When bad pictures show up on your computer... 1. Crash! Immediately turn the computer off. 2. Tell! Tell your parents or a teacher. You may feel guilty, as if you did something wrong -- but remember -- YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. Children's exposure to explicit materials is no accident. Advertisers often display six to eight advertisements of adult materials in popup windows, so when children try to close the window, more ads show up -- that's why it's best to Crash & Tell. Advertisers know that a single exposure of Internet pornography will cause instant addiction in some children (Dr. Rick Hawks). They know children will never forget what they have seen. Adult materials will tease, tantalize, and encourage children to see more. Telling an adult about what they've seen will help children process adult concepts they do not understand.
