Abercrombie & Fitch Pulls Holiday Magalog and Spring Quarterly from stores!

We are excited to announce that Abercrombie & Fitch has pulled its 2003 Christmas Field Guide from its 651 stores and now has canceled its spring quarterly also!

A&F is arguably one of the hottest clothing companies in the nation. The chain has 651 stores, located in upscale shopping areas. It claims its primary market it 18-year-olds to college-aged adults. Unfortunately, it has come to the place where it markets its popular clothing by way of a $7 "magalog" that features pornography.

Its quarterly catalogue or "magalog" the recent Back to School Issue 2003: Sex Ed Issue is indeed an education for parents who take a look. For a publication that purports to sell clothing, more than half of it is filled with photos of naked teenagers having sex. Yes, you read that right. Most of teh magalog features group sex, homosexuality and heterosexual sex. Oddly enough, the clothing is pictured without the models.

On November 10th, the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families and Long Island Citizens for Community Values launched a public awareness campaign against clothing company Abercrombie & Fitch aimed at exposing the company's irresponsible promotion of risky sexual behaviors to teens in its "magalog."

"This is not simply a victory for the National Coalition," said Rick Schatz, president and CEO. "Rather, it is a huge victory for the culture, for teens and their parents, and for concerned consumers. National Coalition and Citizens for Families remain resolute in its call for a continued boycott of the clothing company until its marketing team makes a radical turnaround in the way they advertise to teens and young adults.
